Fuel Cell Car Designed To Influence Next Gen EV-Motorists
The H2go is a new remote control (RC) car powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. Currently, there are no commercially available hydrogen-powered vehicles available for retail sale, but this toy points toward the likely future of EV-Motoring.
Unlike other toy cars and trucks, the all-electric H2go requires no batteries, just water. The free-standing refueling station splits water by electrolysis into its two basic elements, oxygen and hydrogen. The hydrogen is captured for use as power for the car. To repower the car, the user connects the RC to the refueling station to pump the hydrogen into the car’s “fuel tank”. The refueling also separately charges the super-capacitor with fresh electrons.
Fueled up and ready to go, when the H2go’s ignition is switched on, the in-car fuel cell produces an electric current from the hydrogen, which is supplemented by power from the super-capacitor. Everything is under the management of an on-board power control system. The juice is released to turn a single motor that powers the rear wheels. Engineers would refer to this as a parallel hybrid electric system.
To run the H2go completely off the grid, order the optional solar power pack for the hydrogen refueling station. Standard stations require a 110-volt AC plug to power the electrolytic process. Even the remote control transmitter is repowered by the fuel station.
The H2go retails for an even $100 with an AC-powered hydrogen fuel station. Add $20 for the fuel station’s solar array, and you’ll feel genuine pride over influencing a new generation of drivers in the practicality of totally green motoring, even if the car they’re driving is 1:18th scale.
H2go pilots can expect four minutes of run time on a single charge. Brewing another tank of hydrogen requires only four minutes, so there’s no down time waiting for the fuel station to produce enough gas to replenish the racer. The actual hydrogen fill-up takes just seconds. Top speed is a breath taking 6-mph, or about 80-mph if you scale up the speed. The super capacitor works like a turbo to reach maximum velocity, while the electricity from the fuel stack maintains the speed.
The H2go Hydrogen Powered Fuel Cell toy car will influence kids as to the viability of fuel cell cars and the potential for green EV-Motoring.
