Balqon Recognized for Pollution-Reducing Commercial Vehicle Tech
HARBOR CITY, Calif.– Balqon Corporation was featured in a Coalition for Clean Air report, “Shipping Clean, Growing Green: How companies are earning more by polluting less at California ports.” The report highlights case studies illustrating the economic benefits of reducing greenhouse gases at ports and in the freight transportation sector.
“We are happy to be recognized by the Coalition for Clean Air, as we believe our heavy-duty electric trucks will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Port of Los Angeles,” said Mr. Balwinder Samra, President and CEO of Balqon Corporation. “Our work with the Port of Los Angeles shows how our electric drive systems can be adapted to different working environments with the goal of making a positive impact on greenhouse gas emissions.”
Harbor City-based Balqon, has emerged as an industry leader in the electric vehicle industry. In particular, Balqon has been highlighted for developing the first 30-ton capacity all electric zero-emissions vehicle to help address pollution and clean up the air around the Port of Los Angeles.
“Freight transportation accounts for nearly 10 percent of U.S. GHG emissions,” said co-author Luis Cabrales who recently presented the report’s findings at a White House roundtable in honor of National Transportation Week. “Companies ahead of the curve in reducing pollution are poised to benefit as the country grapples with the climate crisis.”
